However, those with a bachelor’s degree or a master’s degree can get a higher salary with 11 years of working experience. 

Those with 11 years of teaching experience earn the least income in this category. A primary school teacher with 11 years of work experience makes an average monthly income of R24,300.00. With 11 years of job experience, those with a bachelor’s or master’s degree can earn more money. 

Average primary school teachers salary with 16 – 20 years of work experience in 2024

An average salary of a primary school teacher with 16 to 20 years of work experience is R34,600.00 per month. The average salary for primary school teachers with 16 to 20 years of work experience represents a 9% increase from the average salary of those with 11 to 15 years of work experience. 

Primary school teachers with more than 20 years of experience can get up to R37,400.00 annually. A PhD can also earn a primary school teacher a salary of more than R40,000.00 per month if they have enough professional experience.
