About Sappi

Sappi is a global producer of dissolving wood pulp, paper, packaging and paper-based specialities, with strong South African roots and operations in North America, Europe and South Africa. Its dissolving-pulp business supplies the raw material for viscose and other textile fibres, while it also makes graphic and speciality papers and packaging. Listed on the JSE, Sappi earns most of its revenue offshore and in hard currencies, making it a rand hedge, and its results are geared to global pulp, paper and packaging prices, textile demand and energy costs. It has been shifting toward higher-growth dissolving pulp and sustainable packaging.
