About Oceana Group

Oceana Group is a South African fishing and commercial cold-storage company and Africa's largest fishing business. It catches, processes and markets fish products — most famously canned pilchards under the Lucky Star brand — along with fishmeal and fish oil (through its US-based Daybrook operation) and horse mackerel and hake. Listed on the JSE, Oceana earns from fish volumes, catch rates, fishing rights and its established consumer brands, plus cold-storage logistics. Its performance depends on fishing quotas, catch success, global fishmeal and fish-oil prices and the resilience of affordable canned-protein demand, with Lucky Star a defensive staple in many South African households.
