In a strategic move to redefine its global presence and offerings, X, formerly known as Twitter, is undergoing a major executive team transformation under the leadership of CEO Linda Yaccarino. Yaccarino, an experienced ad executive with roots in NBCUniversal, officially took the reins in June, and she is determined to steer the ship towards new horizons.
A Media-Centric Reshuffle
Linda Yaccarino’s vision for X involves bringing on board a cadre of media industry veterans to drive the company’s future endeavors. The changes signal a significant shift in focus, with Yaccarino concentrating on “business operations,” while X’s owner, Elon Musk, will be directing his energy towards “product design” and “new technology.”
One of the most noteworthy appointments is Brett Weitz, the former General Manager of TNT, TBS, and truTV, who joins X as the Head of Content, Talent, and Brand Sales. This signals a clear intention to bolster X’s content offerings, aiming to engage a wider audience.
In addition to Weitz, Monique Pintarelli steps into the role of Head of the Americas, responsible for overseeing Sales and Partnerships across the U.S., Canada, and Latin America. This move aligns with X’s ambition to strengthen its presence in these key markets. Reporting to Pintarelli are Marco Botero and Sydney Robertson, alongside U.S. vertical leads.
The U.S. sales division will see a consolidation of responsibilities under various leaders:
Leader | Focus Areas |
---|---|
Andrew Aviza | Retail, Travel, Dining |
Mike Dupree | Alcohol, Sports, Gambling, News, Cannabis |
Brett Goldslager | Political, Education, Energy |
Jeff Melei | Financial Services, CPG, Pharmaceuticals, Health |
Rob Pietsch | Technology, Telecommunications, Auto |
Ged Tarpey | Movies, Streaming, Broadcast |
Carrie Stimmel, former Chief Growth Officer at NBCUniversal, assumes the mantle of Global Agency Leader. She will work closely with Holding Companies and oversee Sales Operations & Strategy.
To further strengthen its global presence, X is also making strategic appointments in other regions:
Rob Hayes, who previously served as Chief Business Officer at Dow Jones and Company, steps in as the Lead for Revenue Operations. His primary focus will be on identifying and capitalizing on the most significant revenue opportunities within the Sales team.
Linda Yaccarino will have Haim Vaturi and Chris Park, who run the Developer and API partnership team, reporting directly to her, ensuring a holistic approach to X’s developer relations.
This reshuffling of X’s executive team aligns with Yaccarino’s vision of reimagining how users and customers worldwide interact with the platform. The company’s focus on bolstering its content offerings and strengthening its global reach signals an ambitious strategy under her leadership.
