In a move that’s set to redefine the world of smartphones, Oppo has taken the wraps off its latest creation, the Find N3 Flip. Revealed at an exclusive launch event in China, this cutting-edge clamshell-style foldable smartphone is generating quite the buzz. Boasting an impressive camera setup and a host of innovative features, the Find N3 Flip marks a significant advancement in foldable technology.

Rapid Succession and Fierce Competition

The Find N3 Flip’s debut arrives just six months after the international release of its predecessor, the Find N2 Flip. This swift product cycle highlights Oppo’s commitment to pushing the boundaries of smartphone innovation. Moreover, the unveiling comes a mere month after Samsung’s global launch of the Galaxy Z Flip, intensifying the competition in the foldable smartphone market. It’s a testament to the rapid pace of development in this segment and the determination of companies like Oppo to outdo themselves.

Camera Innovation Takes Center Stage

One of the standout features of the Find N3 Flip is its remarkable camera array. In a departure from the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5’s design, Oppo has incorporated a Hasselblad-branded triple-camera system on the rear of the device. This setup, reminiscent of Oppo’s Find X6 Pro, comprises a 32-megapixel telephoto lens, a 48-megapixel ultrawide lens with an expansive 114-degree field of view, and a stunning 50-megapixel main camera. The device also boasts a 32-megapixel front-facing camera, setting a new benchmark for mobile photography.

Pricing and Variants

Oppo’s pricing strategy is also catching attention. The Find N3 Flip offers two variants to choose from, catering to varying storage needs. The 256GB storage variant is priced at 6,799 yuan (approximately ZAR 12,923), while the 512GB variant is available for 7,599 yuan (around ZAR 14,438). If these prices indeed translate to the international market, South African users can expect the Find N3 Flip to be priced in the same range as its competitors, such as Samsung’s Galaxy Z Flip 5 and the Motorola Razr Plus, both priced at ZAR 18,981.

Dimensions and Weight

While full specifications are still emerging, a sneak peek from the Chinese-language product page reveals some key details. The Find N3 Flip measures around 16.4mm (0.6 inches) in combined thickness, which narrows down to a svelte 7.8mm (0.3 inches) when unfolded. This makes it slightly larger than its counterpart, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5, with dimensions of 15.1mm folded and 6.9mm unfolded. The device tips the scales at 198 grams (approximately 6.9 ounces), slightly more than the Galaxy Z Flip’s 187 grams (6.5 ounces).

Display and Visual Experience

The Find N3 Flip’s display capabilities are equally impressive. The device sports a 6.8-inch internal screen with a pixel density of 403ppi and a smooth 120Hz refresh rate. On the exterior, a 3.26-inch cover display provides quick access to essential notifications. In comparison, the Galaxy Z Flip 5 features a slightly smaller 6.7-inch internal display with a higher pixel density of 425ppi. Its cover display measures 3.4 inches, with a pixel density of 306ppi. The Find N3 Flip aims to offer a vivid and immersive visual experience, making it a compelling option for media consumption and productivity.

Battery and Accessories

Continuing the legacy of its predecessor, the Find N3 Flip packs a 4,300mAh battery that supports rapid charging of up to 44W. This ensures that users can spend less time tethered to a charger and more time exploring the device’s capabilities. Notably, the device features a three-stage alert slider, a familiar element for users acquainted with Oppo’s subsidiary, OnePlus. To complement the phone’s sleek design and functionality, Oppo is also offering a case for the Find N3 Flip. Priced from 199 yuan (approximately ZAR 3,781), this case features a unique looping strap that enhances grip and stability, catering to users on the go.

As the Find N3 Flip prepares for its international release, the smartphone market is abuzz with anticipation. With its innovative camera system, elegant design, and competitive pricing, the Find N3 Flip is poised to challenge established players in the foldable smartphone realm. Oppo’s commitment to pushing the envelope of technology ensures that consumers can look forward to a new era of foldable smartphones, setting the stage for future innovations in this rapidly evolving space.
