Discovery Limited: Two New Directors Boost Global Leadership

In a significant move aimed at bolstering its leadership team and facilitating global expansion, Discovery Limited has announced the appointment of two distinguished Independent Non-executive Directors to its Board of Directors.

Ms. Lisa Chiume, known for her extensive experience in finance and investments, and Ms. Christine Ramon, a seasoned financial executive with a global corporate background, have officially joined Discovery Limited’s Board, effective September 18, 2023.

Ms. Lisa Chiume brings a wealth of financial expertise to the Board. With a background that includes positions at Deutsche Bank and Rand Merchant Investment Holdings Limited, Ms. Chiume has excelled in mergers and acquisitions and has displayed a knack for the identification, evaluation, and management of investment portfolios spanning various sectors, including insurance, banking, asset management, property, and early-stage fintech.

Her credentials include a BComm in Finance and Economics from the University of Witwatersrand, and she is also a member of the prestigious CFA Institute. Notably, she has served on multiple non-executive boards and committees within the financial services sector, particularly focusing on audit, risk management, investments, remuneration, and fair practices.

Ms. Christine Ramon, on the other hand, is a respected figure in the global corporate arena. Her impressive career journey has seen her contribute her financial acumen to companies such as Anglogold Ashanti, Sasol, and Johnnic Holdings. Currently, she serves as a Non-executive Director of Vodafone Group Plc and Clicks Group. In addition, she is a member of the Presidential State-owned Enterprises Council, where she plays a vital role in shaping the state-owned enterprise landscape.

Ms. Ramon holds BCompt and BCompt Honours degrees from the University of South Africa and has completed the Senior Executive Programme at Harvard Business School in conjunction with Wits Business School in 1999. Her qualifications are a testament to her dedication and expertise in the field of finance.

Both Ms. Chiume and Ms. Ramon have been recognized with multiple achievement awards throughout their illustrious careers.
