Jubilee Metals Group PLC (Jubilee) has announced significant organizational restructuring, forming dedicated executive boards for its South African and Zambian operations. These changes aim to enhance operational efficiency, capitalize on growth opportunities, and better align with the maturity levels of each business unit.
Under the new structure, Dr. Mathews Phosa has been appointed as the chairperson of the holding company for Jubilee’s South African operations (SA Board), while Bertus van der Merwe will assume the role of Managing Director. This move recognizes the maturity of the South African operations, which are now considered well-established and capable of independently funding their growth objectives.

Leon Coetzer, CEO of Jubilee, will serve as the chairperson, with Ricus Grimbeek appointed as Managing Director. Additionally, Mr. Muna Hantuba, a respected local businessman, will join the Zambian Board, providing valuable industry and country knowledge.

Dr. Evan Kirby, previously serving as technical director, will transition to a role providing direct technical insight and support to Jubilee’s Technical Services Division. Additionally, with Dr. Phosa’s resignation as chairperson of the remuneration committee, Ollie Oliveira will temporarily assume the role, pending the appointment of an additional independent non-executive director.
These organizational changes reflect Jubilee’s commitment to strategic growth and operational excellence in both South Africa and Zambia. By establishing dedicated executive boards, the company aims to enhance decision-making agility, efficiently allocate resources, and drive continued success in the metals processing industry.
