South African Leaders Unite Against Gender-Based Violence Epidemic

In a landmark move aimed at combating gender-based violence and femicide (GBVF), the South African Cabinet is poised to sign a pivotal pledge this week, spearheaded by President Cyril Ramaphosa and Deputy President Paul Mashatile. “Crafted collaboratively by governmental and civil society stakeholders subsequent to the historic 2018 Presidential Summit on Gender-based Violence and Femicide, the National Strategic Plan on GBVF was officially embraced in 2020 as a nationwide endeavor to combat gender-based violence and femicide,” elucidated the statement from the Presidency.

At its core, this ten-year blueprint aims to furnish a cohesive policy framework and action plan to bolster a unified national response to the GBVF crisis.
