Launched on October 11, 2023, the TES serves as a streamlined one-stop shop for business applications, aligning with the recommendations of the visa reform initiative.

The Trusted Employer Scheme is meticulously designed to expedite the visa regime, offering swift processing of applications while maintaining stringent adherence to immigration laws. Dr. Aaron Motsoaledi, South Africa’s Home Affairs Minister, highlighted the significance of this scheme, emphasizing its pivotal role in reducing the average visa processing time from 22 weeks to a mere 20 days. This expedited process not only facilitates smoother recruitment processes for employers but also ensures timely integration of foreign nationals into local operations.

To qualify for membership in the Trusted Employer Scheme, employers, investors, or businesses must demonstrate financial robustness, commitment to training programs for South African citizens, and adherence to ethical corporate practices. Under the TES, collaboration among the Departments of Trade, Industry and Competition, Employment and Labour, and Home Affairs ensures seamless processing of critical skills applications.
