Application Process and Key Dates
Prospective recruits can obtain application forms from the SAPS website, www.saps.gov.za, starting from August 5, 2023, under the police trainees section. Additionally, application forms will be made available at all police stations from August 7, 2023, allowing eligible candidates to access the forms conveniently.
The current recruitment cycle seeks to add an additional 10,000 youth between the ages of 18 and 35 to the SAPS ranks. Presently, there are 9,000 trainees undergoing training in academies across the country, with a further 1,000 set to join in January 2024. By the end of the 2023/2024 financial year, a total of 10,000 recruits will have undergone training, paving the way for the incoming 2024/2025 cohort to begin their training in April 2024.
South African Citizenship: Applicants must be citizens of South Africa.
Matric Certificate: A minimum qualification of a matric certificate (Grade 12) is required.
Criminal Record: Candidates must possess a clean criminal record.
