Appointment of Mr. André van der Veen as Chairman
Following Mr. Surgey’s resignation, Mr. André van der Veen, an existing independent non-executive director and member of the Nominations and Remuneration Committee, has been appointed as the new Chairman of the Board, effective from the same date. The Board expressed its confidence in Mr. van der Veen’s leadership, foreseeing his valuable contribution towards executing Nampak’s turnaround objectives.
The changes were disclosed in accordance with the notice of the annual general meeting distributed to shareholders on December 14, 2023.
Resignation of Mr. Clifford Raphiri
In addition to Mr. Surgey’s departure, Mr. Clifford Raphiri has also resigned from his role as an independent non-executive director. Mr. Raphiri held crucial positions within the company, serving as Chairman of the Nominations and Remuneration Committee and Chairman of the Social, Ethics, and Transformation Committee. His resignation is effective from February 15, 2024.
