CEO Roy Douglas is set to retire, and the Board has appointed Geoff Whyte as his successor. The transition is expected to take place on March 1, 2024.
In accordance with the JSE Limited Listings Requirements, ADvTECH has disclosed that Roy Douglas will step down from his role as CEO, effective February 29, 2024. Roy’s tenure has been marked by successful leadership, guiding the Group through an expansion strategy that solidified its position across the continent.
During his term, Douglas strategically repositioned the educational division’s brand portfolios, emphasizing distinct value offerings. His focus on effectiveness and efficiencies resulted in a robust competitive advantage and an agile, adaptive business model. Notably, under his leadership, ADvTECH navigated the challenges of the pandemic, seamlessly transitioning over 70,000 students to an online learning environment.
Roy Douglas will remain with the Group for a suitable period post-retirement, ensuring a smooth handover and leaving ADvTECH in a strong position to continue its growth trajectory.
The Board is excited to announce the appointment of Geoff Whyte as the new Group CEO and Executive Director, effective March 1, 2024. Geoff brings a wealth of experience, holding a Master’s degree in economics from the University of Aberdeen, Scotland, and boasting over 30 years of executive experience across various global industries.
Geoff has a successful track record in organizations such as Unilever, PepsiCo, Cadbury-Schweppes, SAB-Miller, and Nando’s. His expertise spans geographies, including South Africa, the UK, the USA, Holland, the rest of Africa, the Middle-East, and sub-continental India.
