Solana NFT Okay Bears top the charts while South African wine NFTs make a fortune

On Thursday, OpenSea’s 24-hour sales records were topped by Okay Bears, a Solana-powered NFT, while a South African fine-wine NFT auction took off, collecting more than $180,000 (R2.8m). Okay Bears, a nonfungible token (NFT) powered by Solana (SOL), topped OpenSea’s 24-hour sales tracker for the first time on Thursday, outperforming all other Ethereum (ETH) projects on offer.

This is the first time a Solana NFT project has topped the 24-hour sales tracker of the popular NFT marketplace OpenSea. The Solana-based NFT, which offers a collection of 10,000 unique bear photographs, said on Twitter that it has sold out of the collection just one day after it launched, raking in 231,000 SOL, or $23.1 million( R 365m) in total sales to date, according to NFT tracker Cryptoslam.

The Solana network has been gaining traction as a rival to Ethereum’s NFT market dominance. As of Thursday, it is the second most active blockchain in terms of 24-hour NFT sales volume.
“It indicates that collectors enjoy the possibility to own and trade fine wines through these new ownership certificates,” said Gert-Jan Van Rooyen, CEO of Web3 startup Fanfire, the auction’s technology partner.

“In the future, collectors will be able to store a whole portfolio of wines from around the world in their cryptocurrency wallets.”

First, fine-wine NFTs auctioned in South African

For the first time in the history of the South African wine industry, fine wine NFTs will be auctioned.
Five of South Africa’s greatest and most historic wine collections were auctioned as NFTs, collecting approximately 3 million Rand ($186,800).

Strauss & Co, a fine art auctioneer and consultant, conducted the sale, with various wine estates participating, including Klein Constantia, Meerlust, Mullineux, Kanonkop, and Vilafonté. Two of the lots were instantly paid in Bitcoin (BTC).

Five NFT collections continue to outperform the rest

Azuki, Clone X, Doodles, and Moonbirds are all members of the Bored Ape Yacht Club. According to Twitter user NFTstatistics.eth, who goes by the handle @punk9059, NFTs continue to be the market’s best performers in terms of gains.
With 17,000 followers, the Twitter user presents himself as a custodian of NFT data, charts, and thoughts.

According to CryptoSlam, the five NFTs are now rated among the top 12 NFT collections in terms of sales.
