The campaign includes various activities such as free workshops, presentations, mall activations, exhibitions, and webinars. Following the resounding success of Money Smart Week South Africa (MSWSA) 2022, the National Treasury, in collaboration with the Financial Sector Conduct Authority and National Consumer Financial Education Committee, has extended an invitation to organisations and individuals alike to participate in the upcoming MSWSA 2023. The week-long financial literacy campaign is scheduled to run from 28 August to 3 September 2023.
A Platform for Financial Literacy
The primary objective of MSWSA is to establish a national collaborative platform that mobilises a broad spectrum of stakeholders. The aim is to motivate, empower, and educate South Africans, with a special focus on the youth, thereby contributing to a more financially literate citizenry. Since its inception in 2018, the initiative has reached an impressive 80 million South Africans.
In a testament to the growing recognition of the importance of financial literacy, stakeholder participation has seen a significant increase, with 40% more organisations taking part in 2022 compared to the previous year.
Open Invitation to All
Participation in MSWSA is open to any organisation or individuals, including academic institutions, government departments, regulatory authorities, financial institutions, community groups, companies, Non-Governmental Organisations, and Public Benefit Organisations.
The campaign includes a variety of activities such as free workshops, presentations, mall activations, exhibitions, and webinars. Interested participants are invited to organise their own financial education initiatives and events to host during the week-long campaign.
Registration and Information Sharing
Participants are encouraged to register from 30 June 2023. Further details will be provided during information-sharing sessions preceding the campaign. These sessions will be organised by the MSWSA Steering Committee and its various sub-committees.
