BHP Group Limited has unveiled significant updates to its executive leadership team, effective March 1, 2024. The changes are part of BHP’s ongoing strategy to strengthen its organizational capacity and position itself for future growth.

New Chief Financial Officer: Vandita Pant Takes the Helm

In a notable move, Vandita Pant has been appointed as the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), succeeding David Lamont. Currently serving as the Chief Commercial Officer, Pant brings over 20 years of experience in executive banking roles across India, Singapore, Japan, and the United Kingdom. Lamont will continue to contribute to BHP until February 2025 in a Senior Executive Officer advisory role.

Rag Udd Assumes Role of Chief Commercial Officer

Rag Udd, the current President Americas, has been promoted to Chief Commercial Officer, effective March 1, 2024. Udd, who joined BHP in November 2020, has been instrumental in leading safe and productive business operations, notably advancing the Jansen Stage 1 and Stage 2 projects in Potash.

Brandon Craig Appointed President Americas

Brandon Craig, currently serving as Asset President Western Australia Iron Ore, will assume the role of President Americas from March 1, 2024. With over 20 years of experience at BHP, Craig has demonstrated his ability to drive strong performance across integrated mining, rail, and port operations.

Johan van Jaarsveld Takes the Helm as Chief Technical Officer

Johan van Jaarsveld, the current Chief Development Officer, will step into the role of Chief Technical Officer, effective March 1, 2024. Van Jaarsveld has played a crucial role in strategy, acquisitions, and decision evaluation since his appointment in September 2020. He will replace Laura Tyler, who will be leaving BHP on February 29, 2024.

Acknowledging Contributions and Looking Ahead

Mike Henry, BHP Chief Executive Officer, expressed gratitude to outgoing executives, saying, “I thank David and Laura on behalf of employees across BHP, the executive leadership team, the Board, and our shareholders.”

The reshuffling of the executive leadership team is aimed at navigating an increasingly complex operating environment. BHP remains focused on delivering strong operational performance, pursuing growth opportunities, and creating social value, all in support of long-term shareholder returns.
