African and Overseas Enterprises Limited (AOE) has announced the appointment of Ms Anita Gihwala as its new company secretary. Ms Gihwala will assume the role effective from August 7, 2023, following the resignation of Ms Ardilah Mohamed-Mushabe, who served in the position until May 31, 2023.

In a statement released on June 12, 2023, AOE expressed its pleasure in welcoming Ms Anita Gihwala to the company. With a distinguished background that includes a Bachelor of Commerce, Bachelor of Laws, and Master of Business Administration, Ms Gihwala brings extensive experience in the banking, financial services, regulatory, and private equity industries to her new role.

AOE’s board of directors expressed their anticipation of Ms Gihwala’s contributions to the company, highlighting her valuable expertise and diverse skill set. As an admitted attorney, Ms Gihwala is well-positioned to navigate the legal and regulatory complexities of AOE’s operations.

The selection process for the new company secretary began following the resignation of Ms Ardilah Mohamed-Mushabe. Shareholders were informed of the vacancy through a SENS (Stock Exchange News Service) announcement released by AOE on March 13, 2023. AOE assured shareholders that they would be promptly notified of the appointment once the process was finalized.
