Eskom has announced that load shedding will be extended until 05h00 on Friday, moving it to stage 4 on Wednesday.
The timetable would then revert to stage 2 until 05h00 on Saturday, according to the announcement.
“Eskom regrets to report that stage 4 load shedding will be enforced from 12h00 today (Thursday) until 05h00 on Saturday,” the company announced.
In the last 24 hours, three power stations—Medupi, Kusile, and Matla—had units trip, while two more—Lethabo and Arnot—had units shut down. Since the power system was further limited, emergency reserves had to be used extensively, which slowed the recovery of these reserves.”
A few generating units have been put back into service, according to Eskom, and the company expects two more to do so later in the day.
it stated load-shedding was an absolute last resort and apologized for the disruption it caused.
